The who:

Hi, my name is Nick Stratton. My interest in Renewable Energy is to cut out centralized utilities and keep the money in my own pocket.

The what:

Offgridrving.com is a challenge to live in an off grid renewable energy rv so aptly named Ogre Rv that is built from scratch for 1 year.

During the course of this next year I will be touring events and I hope to have the opportunity to show the Ogre Rv to kids from elementary school up to the high school students getting ready to take that big giant step out of the parents home for the first time!

The reasons:

When you first get out of high school you think that you should have the same things its taken your parents 20+ years to acquire. I guess its human nature, you are use to living with those things your entire life right? So you go out you might take on a cell phone contract and then you get that nice car that happens to come with a payment and try that out, wow this isn’t so bad  I can still afford to hang out with my friends!

Then the time comes when you move away from home, here comes the apartment which happens to come with a rent payment as well as paying for power, gas, Internet. This is the way its done right? This is what everyone else has you might say to yourself, meanwhile you find yourself living paycheck to paycheck. You’ll be telling your friends you cant go out tonight cause your broke, wait a minute wasn’t that why you got the cell and the car in the first place?

The real world is full of time contracts and more money, more money. It is my belief that people are starting out with too much out of high school. Tiny homes is the conclusion I have come too and I hope by following this site that you might see the reasons.
